Joanna represents private and government entities in State and Federal courts throughout South Florida. Her areas of practice include defending §1983 challenges, excessive force suits, personal injury claims, commercial claims, fraudulent lien actions and condominium and construction disputes. Recently, she successfully argued for the dismissal of excessive force claims against a municipality and achieved a favorable outcome at a jury trial for negligence.
Joanna served as director for the Dade County Bar Association (DCBA) Young Lawyer's Section from 2010-2011 and acted as Chair of the DCBA YLS Schools Committee, which hosts an annual mock trial competition for local high school students. She also served as Vice-Chair of the DCBA YLS Girls Horizons Committee, which advises local high school females on educational and professional opportunities and provides summer internships at various local businesses.
