Ms. Adelson is Of Counsel to the Firm and is a member of the Labor, Employment and ADA Practice Groups. Ms. Adelson represents both private and public clients in a wide range of labor, employment and ADA matters.
Ms Adelson provides counsel and advice to clients in all aspects of labor and employment matters arising under federal, state and local labor and employments laws, rules and regulations. Ms Adelson counsels clients on preventative labor and employment litigation and human resources issues, such as compliance, compensation, benefits, regulatory issues, personnel policies and procedures, discharge matters and education and training programs for managers and supervisors. Ms. Adelson also consults with and advises clients on proactive compliance with federal and state access laws under the Americans with Disabilities Act and Fair Housing Laws.
Ms. Adelson has extensive experience in representing employers in litigation matters before federal and state courts, and federal, state and local administrative agencies including The United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Florida Commission on Human Relations, arising under federal, state and local employment laws such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, The Americans With Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, The Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, Federal and constitutional claims asserted under 42 U.S.C. 1981 and 1983 and the Florida Civil Rights Act. Ms. Adelson represents clients in matters including wrongful termination, wage and hour, family medical leave act, discrimination and retaliation, whistleblower, labor negotiations, arbitrations and mediations. Ms. Adelson has negotiated financial settlements on behalf of management in multi-million dollar employment and labor-related disputes. She has also been instrumental in obtaining the dismissal of a significant number of cases in early stages of litigation. Ms. Adelson also represents management in labor disputes pursuant to union collective bargaining agreements.
Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Adelson practiced labor and employment law at a large national firm in their New York and South Florida offices. Ms. Adelson is admitted to practice law by the Bars of New York and Florida, by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and by the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida and the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York .
