Environmental Law
Our attorneys have significant experience in all areas of environmental regulation representing both private and public sector entities in compliance, defense and enforcement matters. We represent business owners, developers, cities, water management districts, individuals, engineers and contractors in handling the latest and most complex environmental law issues. We regularly work with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the Florida Department of Community Affairs, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, regional Florida Water Management Districts and local government environmental agencies such as the Miami Dade Department of Environmental Resource Management (DERM).
Solid Waste Management
We have a distinguished record representing private and public entities with respect to solid waste management and emergency management matters. Some of the firm’s members previously represented Miami-Dade County’s Department of Solid Waste Management (DSWM) and DERM and had substantial involvement in its day to day operations and significant transactions. We continue to work with those departments as well as other local government agencies around the State on behalf of industry clients. Our intimate knowledge of the inner workings of the government side of solid waste and environmental issues allows us to provide our clients with unequaled representation in dealings with local, State and Federal governments. We offer expertise in the interrelated disciplines of environmental law, land use law, real estate, municipal franchises, government contracts and corporate transactions, so we can provide complete solutions to meet our clients’ legal and government affairs needs. Examples of the significant matters handled by attorneys in the firm include the following:
- Representation of Allied Bank of Texas in a workout scenario involving the transfer of a recycling plant in South Miami-Dade County.
- Representation of Chambers Development Corp. of Pennsylvania in a transaction involving the Okeechobee Florida County landfill.
