Solid Waste Management

We have a proven track record of success in the area of solid waste management, representing both private and public entities. Our attorneys include those that previously represented Broward County and Miami-Dade County's Departments of Solid Waste Management (DSWM) and Department of Environmental Resources Management (DERM). We have had substantial involvement in the day-to-day operations concerning permitting and significant transactions. We continue to work with those departments as well as other local government agencies around the State on behalf of industry and municipal clients.

Our knowledge of the inner workings of the government side of solid waste and environmental issues allows us to provide our clients with representation in dealings with local, State and Federal governments. We offer expertise in the interrelated disciplines of environmental law, land use law, real estate, municipal franchises, and government contracts and corporate transactions, so we can provide complete solutions to meet our clients' legal and government affairs needs.

Examples of our significant matters include:

  • Representation of Allied Bank of Texas in a workout scenario involving the transfer of a recycling plant in South Miami-Dade County.
  • Representation of Chambers Development Corp. of Pennsylvania in a transaction involving the Okeechobee County landfill.
  • Representation of Broward County in handling issues regarding the disposal of solid waste and the permitting of additional solid waste “cells” at the Davie Landfill and the permitting of both of Broward County's "waste to energy" plants.
  • Representation of Orange County and Hillsborough County in matters dealing with solid waste disposal.
