Miami libraries facing obstacles – Friends of the Miami-Dade Public Library System provides support

Tightening a budget is always a difficult task for any city official.  As Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez reviews the options, the Miami-Dade Library System might be at risk.   Libraries took a big hit in the 2011 tax cut. Friends of Miami-Dade Public Library works to support the system, save libraries and jobs.  The Coalition to Save Our Libraries reports that a poll of more than 5,000 registered voters support library funding.

Partner John Quick’s commitment as President of Friends of Miami-Dade Public Library has positioned him front and center as the importance of libraries has become a central point.  His recent appearance on Public TV’s Issues – WPBT TV Channel 2 – gave him a forum to express the various concerns that library advocates envision.  Other media has been eager to get John’s valuable insight including the Herald and the Biscayne Times.

John finds the time, energy and resources to help the libraries while also focusing on complex business, commercial and municipal/governmental law.
