Firm Partner Alan Fertel recently spoke with Variety about a possible deal recording artist Jay-Z might enter into with the National Football League and the conflict of interest this deal could pose. Jay-Z’s company, Roc Nation, is in talks to make an entertainment-and-social-justice pact with the NFL, but news broke that he is also possibly acquiring a large stake in one of the league’s teams. Alan, who has represented players and agents and consulted for the NFL, doesn’t think Jay-Z will nail down the deal with the NFL and purchase a stake in a team, but believes that Jay-Z could help turn the NFL around to attract new viewers and fans.
