Kevin Fertel focuses his practice on commercial and municipal litigation, family law, criminal defense and sports and entertainment law.
Before joining the firm, Kevin served as an Assistant State Attorney at the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office. He was Assistant Chief of DUIs in County Court, overseeing more than 40 Assistant State Attorneys handling misdemeanor DUI prosecutions. He also served as a County Court Training Attorney, managing trials, hearings, and daily calendars, and worked as a Felony Prosecutor.
Kevin has tried eleven jury trials to verdict and has argued substantive and evidentiary motions, including motions to suppress, Stand Your Ground, Hunter, and Youngblood motions, as well as bond review and restitution hearings. He previously interned for the Honorable Peter Lopez in Florida’s Eleventh Judicial Circuit.
Kevin earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from St. Thomas University College of Law, where he made the Dean’s List and received the Book Award in Business Associations. He holds his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Florida Gulf Coast University, where he was also named to the Dean’s List.
