Ethics Law

At the crossroads of law and politics is ethics, and as a statewide leader in the area of local government law, we are uniquely positioned to successfully handle the most sensitive of ethics matters. Our attorneys, who include former State and local bar presidents and members of The Florida Bar Board of Governors, frequently advise clients on ethical issues and represent them if they are investigated.

We have extensive experience representing both elected and appointed government officials and local governments before the Miami-Dade County Commission on Ethics and before the State of Florida Ethics Commission.  We bring to the field of ethics representation a unique perspective and significant knowledge of both the obligations and challenges presented by election and employment in the public sector.  Ethics commissions are unlike other judicial or administrative bodies and require specialized expertise to represent clients successfully in such forums.  To put it simply, ethics representation should not be handled by amateurs.

We also represent lawyers and other professionals before The Florida Bar and before the State of Florida Department of Professional Regulation.  Our attorneys that practice in this area, led by founding member, Joseph H. Serota, have significant insight into the disciplinary process of The Florida Bar, and they have represented a number of attorneys who have faced ethics complaints in high profile matters.   We are also proud of the fact that national-firms seek out our services when one of their local attorneys has an ethical issue. In addition, our extensive experience with administrative boards has aided our successful efforts in representing other professionals in disciplinary proceedings as well.
