Utilities

Government Division

We counsel investor-owned and public utilities on all phases of transactions, including contract negotiations and regulatory matters. Leveraging our deep connections with government, our government relations group also provides strategic guidance on political issues and advice on lobbying elected officials. When litigation is necessary, our highly experienced litigators have a proven track record of protecting our utility clients’ interests. For example, we represented the City of Homestead in a lawsuit against La Ley Sports, a baseball stadium facility that owed more than $162,000 of utility and insurance bills.

Unique from other firms, we also represent utilities in all aspects of eminent domain acquisitions and litigation. Our background ranges from managing large multi-parcel acquisition projects to more straightforward acquisitions of single parcels. For those parcels that cannot be acquired through negotiation, our attorneys have a strong background in successfully litigating eminent domain lawsuits through jury verdict.
