Firm Founding Member Joe Serota was part of a small group to encourage Miami-Dade County commissioners to vote to build a new courthouse. The favorable vote has come after years of effort by Chief Judge Bertila Soto and Judge Jennifer Bailey to secure funds for the new building. The current courthouse was built in 1928 and has become far too small for the judges who preside over cases there, as well as the many staff, lawyers, and visitors who daily use the facility. The new courthouse will contain 50 courtrooms and will be located down the street from the current courthouse.
