Since hurricane season is here, we remind you to check the status of your emergency/hurricane contracts. Make sure they haven’t expired and that you have contracted with vendors who have experience with federal regulatory requirements regarding emergency cleanup measures.

In order to obtain federal reimbursement for debris monitoring and debris cleanup and management your contract should have been competitively bid following federal requirements. Some of these requirements include: having a work authorization procedure with a ceiling for the specific work being authorized; including in your contract federal highway provisions specifically as set forth in the statute and requiring compliance; and requiring the vendor to follow the current FEMA Management Guide in all services performed.
